FOA ‘What’s New in Fibre Optics’ FREE Seminar

The International Fibre Optic Association (FOA) is a professional society, mainly based in the US which has a reputation for being leading edge in fibre developments. With over 200 affiliated training organisations in 40 countries, the FOA keeps informed of new fibre optic technology and communications applications. They will present the ‘What’s New in Fibre Optics’ Seminar in Sydney on November 16th, 2011.

This seminar will provide an overview of some of the most interesting new developments in fibre optics.  In addition, the FOA will invite other local speakers to talk about their work.

The FOA has held these seminars in other parts of the world where they have very successfully created an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the latest fibre optic technology and what is happening in their local markets.

In addition, it is an opportunity to meet with FOA personnel and ask questions about topics of interest.

Jim Hayes, President of the FOA, will speak for the FOA. Jim was trained as an astronomer and physicist, was one of the earliest entrepreneurs in fibre optics, and has been training in fibre optics since 1982.

In 2001 he was selected as one of the “Luminaries” of fibre optics and in 2007 as one of the “Pioneers” of FTTP. Jim was one of the founders of the FOA and is the technical editor of the FOA publications and website.

Sydney seminar date: Wednesday, November 16th.

The venue for the meeting is not yet set, but will be sent to participants well in advance of the meeting.
